Maharashtra Bhushan
:

The Maharashtra Bhushan is a highest civilian award presented annually by the government of Maharashtra. It was instituted in 1995 and was initially conferred in the fields of Literature, Art, Sport, and Science. Later the fields of Social Work, Journalism, and Public Administration and Health Services were included.

The award carries a cash prize of ₹25 lakh, a memento and citation.

Prominent persons who have been conferred with the Maharashtra Bhushan include: Purushottam Laxman Deshpande (1996), Lata Mangeshkar (1997), Sunil Gavaskar (1998), Vijay Bhatkar (1999), Sachin Tendulkar (2001), Bhimsen Joshi (2002), Abhay and Rani Bang (2003), Baba Amte (2004), Raghunath Anant Mashelkar (2005), Ratan Tata (2006), R. K. Patil (2007), Mangesh Padgaonkar (2008), Sulochana Latkar (2009), Jayant Narlikar (2010), Anil Kakodkar (2011), Babasaheb Purandare (2015), Asha Bhosle (2021), Appasaheb Dharmadhikari (2022) and Ashok Saraf (2003).


Maharashtra Gaurav Puraskar
:

The Maharashtra Gaurav Puraskar is a prestigious award presented by the Maharashtra government to acknowledge and celebrate outstanding contributions to the art and culture of Maharashtra. The award carries a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh and a citation.

Dr Padmakar Nandekar, renowned social worker from Mumbai was conferred with the Maharashtra Gaurav Puraskar for 2023. The 2022 award was given to Kaustubh Sonalkar in the field of Entrepreneurship, Mentorship, and Diversity and Inclusion.

 


Shiv Chhatrapati Award
:

The Shiv Chhatrapati Award, also known as the Shiv Chhatrapati State Sports Award, is the highest recognition for sportspersons in the state of Maharashtra.  Instituted in 1969-70, the award is given for  outstanding achievements of athletes and sportspersons from Maharashtra.
 

The award carries a cash prize of  ₹3 lakh along with a citation and a memento.  Recipients are entitled to free travel on MSRTC buses (Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation) within Maharashtra.
